As some examples of his convincing and competent clarification of the most and mystifying stanzas in Tiruvachakam. the following items in Part I of his book may be referred to: (1) lines 66 to 95 of Tiru Anda Pahuti: (2) lines 13 t. 25 of Pottri Tiru Ahaval; (3) Stanzas 45, 75, 94 and 100 of Tiru Chatakam; and (4) the last stanza of Neethal Vinnappam. Nevertheless I may be permitted to refer to some of his statements wherein there is some difference of opinion. Gohazhi refers, according to our author to Tiru-Avaduthurai But it has been proved beyond any doubt that it refers to a place of that very name in Andhra Pradesh. While anotating the first line of stanza 90, the author might have with telling effect quoted the parallel line "நாணனும் அன்பும் முன்பு நிளிர் up from Sekkizhar's story of Saint Kannappar, as indeed it has been quoted by Panditamani M. Kathiresan Chettiar: '"ஊரா மிலைக்கக் குருட்டா மிலைத்தங்கு" is the version in this edition (Part I, line 3 of stanza 91) which is the same as in the Dharmapuram edition. But "ஊரா மிலைக்கக் குருட்டா மிலைத்தாங்கு '' is a different but better version of the line which is found in Kathir Mani Vilakkam as well as in the Annamalai University edition. But it is obvious that the latter version is plainer straighter and mare grammatical without any need for, as written by our author, என ஒரு சொல் வருவித்துரைக்கப்பட்டது" The present edition gives the meaning of அண்ணுவி தல், அடையும்படி செய்தல் to the word "அண் Gun" in line 4 of Sivapuranam. It would be more correct and agreeable if the word should mean தித்தித்தல், ருசியாகு 5. The words of Srint. Appar ''அண்ணித்திட்டமுதூறும் என் Gun G" would confirm and strengthen this latter view. Eut such points are only few and far between. In conclusion, I must declare that it has been a felicity and a feast un o me to go through this commentary on Tiruvachakam: To the best of my knowledge, this book of commentary bas neither an equal nor a superior one in the Tamil speaking world of today.
