according to physics. So also in Saiva Siddhanta
souls are eternal and uncreated by any. The great
physicist, Dr. Wernhner Von Braun, who had
planned and sent rockets to land man on the moon
had said that he believed in conservation of souls
as he believed in conservation of energy. He could
not accept the idea of disappearance of souls after
death.
Manifestations:
The energy can exist in many forms. It can be
converted from one form into another. According to
the Theory of Relativity, matter can be converted
into energy and vice versa. The Sun releases
energy at the cost of matter. In atom bomb the
conversion of matter gives enormous energy. Life
and death are merely the manifestations of the soul,
the embodiment of energy.
Nature Of Atoms:
The structure of atoms is beyond direct
human perception. Through many experiments it is
now established that an atom is active always, with
a central nucleus with electrons revolving around.
When electrons jump from one orbital level to
another, they create or absorb photons, the light
particle. So fundamental nature is active and
energetic. This is symbolized in the Cosmic dance
of Nataraja.
Pair - Production And The Place Of
"Sakthi";
The pair production is an important
phenomenon in Modern Physics. Here energy is
converted into matter as per the law of the Theory
of Relativity. When one photon or the light particle
disappears one electron and one positron are born
out. But no physical process can violate the
conservation laws of energy and momentum. When
these laws are applied to the above pair-production
process there is an apparent difficulty. This difficulty
can be removed by taking another stand-by particle
during the pair - production process. This merely
stays nearby. Thus an electron and a positron can
be created from a photon only in the presence of
a third particle. Pair-production cannot take place in
vacuum. This is an established fact. So also a
photon can transmit its energy to an electron only
in the presence of a third particle. This fundamental
natural process resembles an act of Lord as
described in Saiva Siddhanta philosophy. As we all
know, the Sivagnana Botham of St. Meykandadevar
is the fountainhead of Saiva Siddhanta philosophy.
In the second stanza of the book he describes how
the Lord, all pure, untouched by any bond, imparts
His grace to the souls. He channels the salvation-
giving-grace (Arul) through His consort, popularly
understood as "SAKTHI". St. Meykandadevar calls
this "Aanai"-command. In Thirukalitrupadiyar this is
clearly elaborated as follows:
As we execute any work with hands, so also
the Lord does through his command, the Sakthi.
One cannot but admire this parallel situation in both
systems. Certainly nature reflects the act of the
fundamental, the Lord. One develops an overflowing
enthusiasm when one sees how the basis of Saiva
Siddhanta philosophy is supported by the conclusions
of Modern Physics. So Lord does creation and
blessing in the presence of his "Sakthi" as creation
of particle happens in the presence of a third particle
alone.
When one dives into the theories of Modern
Physics, a collection of conclusions supporting the
fundamental of Saiva Siddhanta Philosophy can be
got. Here, only few examples are brought out the
ice-berg part of facts can be interesting and exciting.
Prof. Albert Einstein once said "Religion
without science is lame" In the science age in which
we live it is necessary that we should make
scientists and religious-philosophers to meet and
discuss to clarify many theories of religion so as to
cultivate a deep and strong religious feeling among
the public.
