The treatment and mantras of the Jains only increased the King's grief. The King shouted for them to leave. At that time the child saint Sambandar was visiting Madurai. The worried Queen persuaded the King to see Sambandar, who had the power to cure his ailments. When Sambandar arrived the Jains felt threatened and started arguing. The King told them, that instead of arguing, they should prove their respective truth by curing his pain. The Jains directed their mantras with the feather broom on the left side of the King's body whilst Sambandar smeared Holy Ash on the right side. The King's body instantly became cool on the right side, but the pain on the left burnt even more aggressively. The defeated Jains were ordered by the King to leave. Sambandar smeared the Holy Ash on the left side too. The King was completely cured. The King praised Smbandar with folded hands on his head and thanked him for rescuing him from the company of undesirables." Source Thiru-Neeru is obtained by burning the dung of cows, to ashes. Every one of our Saints has sung in praise of Thiru-Neeru and have also exhorted to wearing it with great devotion. Saint Manikavasakar says, "If desirous of wearing Thiru-Neeru, wear it in abundance. This abundance is a sign of our real love for Parashakti". Thiru-Neeru is a symbol of purity. In applying the Holy Ash, we are symbolically purifying our soul.
