World Parliament of Religions Sanctions Recognition
The 1999 Parliament of the World.
Religions held in Cape Town provided a
golden opportunity for promoting harmony
and understanding among the world's many

provided a forum and dialogue for religious
and spiritual identity as well as discussion
on critical issues such as social justice,
women in religion, global ethnics, world
poverty, youth priorities in the new
millennium and many other issues that
confronted mankind in the twenty first
century issues that concern all who live on
planet earth.
Spiritual horizons were unveiled during
the Parliament's intese eightday programme
that revealed an incredible array of topics
ranging from issues such as aids, global
ehtics, information technology and the role
of religion in war and peace. Some 700
papers were delivered to over 8000
delegates from all over the world and
representing over 100 faiths and many other
related interest groups
like the World Bank and
UN agencies.

Apart from speeches

Tibetan Spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama,
who also stressed on the World Saiva
Council's Saivite call for 'Vision, Focus and
Action' for all the delegates present.

represented at this momentous Parliament
as a religion on its own-Swami Siva Nandhi
Adikalaar, President of the World Saiva
Council a full participant in the week-long
event. His paper, 'Saivism into the next
Millennium' was presented to Conference
